The Rio Grande Valley of Texas in South Texas is renowned for its tropical climate. But it's the friendliness and warmth of the locals (we treat Winter Texans like family) that bring Winter Texans to the South Texas Valley -- and back again year after year.
Our winter is like your spring. Daytime temperatures in the 70's and 80's are the norm, though the Rio Grande Valley of South Texas has a few cold snaps, for 2-3 days to make you feel at home.
The South Texas Rio Grande Valley is proud of its World Birding center (500+ species), inexpensive golf courses and first-class hospitals minutes away from Oleander Acres. South Padre Island is an hour away with shelling, deep sea, surf fishing.
You can park your RV, trailer or motor home anywhere in South Texas. Oleander Acres is different. There are hundreds of RV parks in the Rio Grande Valley of South Texas. Mission, Texas has dozens of RV and trailer parks where Winter Texans come to get away from the cold winter. At Oleander Acres, we have high-speed, wireless Internet (Tengo Internet), so you can keep in touch with family back home and tell them how warm it is in the Rio Grande Valley of South Texas.
What you want is a lifestyle and activities that make you feel comfortable. You get that at Oleander Acres. Some RV parks in the Rio Grande Valley are for people who have to "keep up with the Jones." Not Oleander Acres. We treat our guests like family. Our family is relaxed and casual. Some parks are nothing more than a hookup in a field. Not Oleander Acres. Some sites have their own trees, including citrus trees, so you can pick fresh grapefruit and oranges from your front door. Green grass covers the open areas and lovely plants, like oleanders, aloe vera in abundance (a medicinal herb) and bougainvilleas.
Oleander Acres is the closest RV Park to excellent medical care, with Mission Regional Medical Center is a mere 2.1 miles away. It is ranked 5 stars by HealthGrades rating service with specialties in pulmonary care. There are three other hospitals within 10 miles in McAllen, Texas, including McAllen Medical Center, which is also a 5 Star recognized hospital .
McAllen Heart Hospital is a few mile farther away and specializes in heart treatment.
For those who want inexpensive dental and reliable dental care, we can recommend good dentists in Progreso, Mexico.
Your dog or cat is welcome, providing they can vouch for you. We've even had a few birds roost at Oleander Acres.
At Oleander Acres RV Park, we have pets in our family too, so we understand that you want to spend your winter with your furry or feathered family. Oleander Acres is the most pet-friendly RV park in Mission, Texas and maybe in the Rio Grande Valley of Texas.
For those of you who don't have pets, be assured that we have never had a problem with anyone's pets causing any problems, so even if you are not a pet-owner, you will find us people-friendly too. Our experience is that the pet-owner Winter Texans who stay at Oleander Acres RV Park are considerate of their neighbors.
There are plenty of grassy trails to walk your dogs or cats (assuming your cats will let you walk them), and you will meet many of your neighbors on your walks, both with and without pets.
We should add a disclaimer here. If your pet is consistently irritating to your neighbors, we will ask you to correct the problem. If it cannot be corrected, we do have some more isolated spaces we may ask you to move to, or to leave. We have never had to enforce this policy, but it is only fair to let you know in advance.
